When I was pregnant with my third child, I went through some difficult personal issues, turned to food to soothe myself, and watched as the number on the scale went up…and up and up. In all, i gained 100 pounds.

I basically self-medicated with food. lol.
After giving birth, i vowed to find a sustainable way to lose the pounds. For me, that mean not depriving myself of any one food group, instead eating until I felt satisfied, not stuffed.

Onyi Joyon, my fitness coach led me through it all. I ate three meals a day with small portions, they consisted of mostly lean protein, carbs, healthy fats, vegetables and a Ketogenic tea to wash it down. And I changed my view of food— from looking at it as a source of pleasure to seeing it as a source of fuel for my body.

In 3 months, I dropped 40 pounds, and my energy levels and stamina skyrocketed. By the 8-month mark, I’ve lost all 100 pounds. I knew losing weight is a gradual process, I didn’t want to rush it unless I wanted a surgery which is a no-no for me. Lol

 Make vision boards of where you want to be and what you want to look at, very important. (Mine contained goal-oriented images: a healthy family, outfits I eventually planned to wear, and beach vacations) Looking at these boards on a daily basis trains my mind to see myself as that fit, healthy person.
